So far this year, Chongqing Postal Branch has made remarkable achievements in the development of Green Post through innovative measures such as standardized procurement, recycling-oriented facility upgrades and intelligent management, thus injecting powerful impetus into the Zero-Waste City initiative of Chongqing. As of the end of February, Chongqing Postal Branch has successfully built 37 municipal-level zero-waste express stations (postal outlets).
In response to the pain point of packaging pollution in the express industry, Chongqing Postal Branch has established a set of strict control mechanisms covering the entire process of procurement, application and recycling. Since July 2024, it has fully adopted the new national standard for packaging, and formulated detailed guidelines for packaging allocation across its postal outlets, which has clearly defined the procuring entity, technical criteria, and operational procedures for packaging materials at collection and delivery offices and postal outlets. With the “One Product One Code” system, Chongqing Postal Branch has made it possible to accurately trace the packaging materials from source to end.
To advance harmless disposal and recycling of packaging materials, Chongqing Postal Branch has elaborately designed a citywide “plastics ban” roadmap, requiring that biodegradable packaging tapes and bags be available at all collection and delivery offices and postal outlets in Chongqing. Moreover, it has actively advocated the recycling and reuse of packaging, stocked recyclable packing boxes, and promoted them to customers with needs. Through both centralized and decentralized procurement, Chongqing Postal Branch has deployed packaging waste recycling devices at all collection and delivery offices and postal outlets citywide.
Chongqing Postal Branch has implemented systematic categorization of standardized packaging practices based on specific scenarios. It applies different requirements for self-provided packaging to public customers and contracted clients. It categorizes packaging materials provided by postal enterprises according to the destinations of mail items, and specifies operational standards and major instructions for packaging at different scenarios, thereby effectively improving the scientific nature and standardization of packaging practices.
