Telecommunications Services
Each delegation office will be equipped with a telephone set. Telephone directories noting
Congress phone numbers will be provided. Delegates can make local calls,or send faxes (between offices and within Beijing calling area) at no cost, but long--distance calls or telexes (both domestic and international) will not be free.
Each delegation will receive a long--distance calling contract, which, when completed and returned to the Chinese Secretariat, will enable long distance calls to be made directly from delegation offices. By agreeing to pay for all calls made from the office phone, delegates can dial directly to locations around the world. For those delegations which choose not to complete the contract, special telephone booths will be available in the hall.
In addition, a telecommunications center will be established to provide long--distance domestic and international telephone and fax services. Card phones will also be provided in BICC.
The Bank of China will provide good banking services including major foreign currency exchange and effect payment of international money transfer to congress participants. To facilitate ballking services at the temporary office, your passport and congress badge must be presented.
Telegraphic transfer is the quickest and most commonly used method for international money transfer. In order for the payee to receive the money as soon as possible, it is important for all foreign banks to send telegraphic payment instructions direct to the Bank of China, Beijing Branch using the SWIFT code "BKCHCNBJ 110". In the telegraph, the name of the payee identical to that in the passport must be indicated.In the remark field of payment order"for UPU Congress"must be printed.
Foreign currencies accepted by Bank of China, Beijing Branch through international remittance GBP, HKD, USD, CHF, DEM, FRF, SGD, NLG. SEK, DKK, NOK, ATS, BEC, ITL, JPY, CAD and AUD.
When the money transfer is received by Bank of China, a current account will . be opened for each payee. Upon arrival in Beijing, China, the payee may get the deposit book and withdraw money against passport. The balance unused in the account can be cashed or transferred back.
If a remittance is adopted by a bank draft, the bank drati should be drawn on Bank of China, Beijing Branch. Otherwise, Bank of China, Beijing Branch will reject the immediate payment.
