There is a big difference in the population of the national minorities, with the Zhuang nationality being the largest with 15.556 million and Lhoba, the smallest, with only over 2300.
Spoken and Written Languages
As the common language in China, Chinese is rooted in the Chinese--Tibetan language family. Born around 6,000 years ago, Chinese characters are huge in number, totaling nearly 60,000. But not many of them are in daily use. About 3,000 of them make up 99% of the words that frequently appear in writing.
Many other nationalities use their
own languages and 23 of them have their own written languages.
We will provide every participant with a booklet entitled "200 Everyday Chinese Express ions" to facilitate your stay.

The exposure to different cultures has
helped diversify Beijing local culture which, however, also maintains its original flavor.
