International Cooperation


32.jpg (18719 ×Ö½Ú)In 1999, China Post expanded the exchange with other administflltions and broadened channels for international cooperation, thus accelerated international exchange and cooperation in postal services and technical fields. Various delegations were sent to Japan, USA, The Netherlands, Australia, France and Switzerland on postal financial services, IT, legal affairs, postal security, EMS and philatelic services. In addition, we sent 34 senior managers at provincial level abroad for training, with a view of leaxning the experience from other countries on postal reform and business development. Postmaster General and Deputy Postmaster Generals visited USPS, Canada Post Corporation, etc successfully. China Post organized different delegations to attend various international conferences and seminars including: WSBI conference in Malaysia, the 13th World Automation Conference in USA, Banking Seminar for Senior Managers in USA and international Financial Seminar in Japan. We sent delegahons to attend the World Philatelic Exhibition in Singapore, Australia, Germany, France, Russia, Thailand Mexico and Czech Republic. We joinlly issued stamps with DPRK, Russia and Kazakstan successfully, which further accelerated the development of China's philatelic services. To support the constrUction of PICS and Green Card Project, we sent delegations to USA, France, UK, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, italy, Denmark etc, for visihng, testing and training related with PICS equipment and postal automahc machines.

In 1999, we received 16 postal delegations from other countries, including D.P.R. Korea, Germany, Brazil, Belgium (headed by Director General), USA. During the 22nd UPU Congress, China Post actively developed bilateral relations and made great efforts to widen the channels for international cooperation, and accelerated internahonal Service development and cooperation. Leaders of SPB had discussions with Presidents of 49 postal administrations including USA, UK, France, Germany, Russia, Canada, Japan etc. On August 24 and September 10, China Post signed Memorandum on Enhancement of Mutual Cooperation respectively with Canada Post Corporation and State Co~ttee for Communications and informatization of the Russian Federation. In 1999, China Post opened Global Priority Mail service with 18 countries and regions in Europe, North America and South-east Asia, opened SAL from China to Japan and resumed direct exchange of surface mail with Vietnam. So fad, we have established direct intimational mail dispatch relations with 450 countries. Among the offices operating international service, 60 are designated mail dispatch offices, 52 with customs clearance functions, 43 exchange offices and 37 mail exchange stations. Meanwhile, China Post actively explored the possibility of exchange and cooperation with world leading companies in postal services, and signed Memos with some postal corporations through exchange and discussions.
