Delivery service traffic increased by 1 .6% over the comparable period in last year leading to a growth of 14.8% over last year in terms of revenue; postal savings service tfaffic increased by 18.4% and revenue increased by 48. l% over the comparable period of last year; philatelic service traffic increased by 0.6% over last year with 8.8% increase in revenue. Mail volume reached 6.081526 bn with a revenue of Y 4.07 bn, parcels volume 97.259 m with a revenue of Y l.63 bn; cumulative volume in newspaper 19.590746 bn and in magazine I .241342 bn with a combined revenue of Y4.42 bn. Postal deposit balance reached Y 381 .51 bn generahng Y I I .34 bn in revenue. Philatelic service revenue completed Y 8.48 bn. International mail (including to and from Macao and Hongkong) processed yearly amounted to 82.931 m, among which EMS reached 3.475 m, up 3.4% over last year and parcel 703,000, up 18.3% over last year. Postal communication network witnessed how headway. Remarkable improvement was achieved in transportation capability. Mechanization in mail processing advanced further boasting 331 sets of Direct Mail producting equipment, 118 Mail Facing machinery, 1 13 mail sorting machines, 142 parcel sorting machines, 40 assembly lines for newspapers and periodicals sorting, 3,271 ATMs and 3,147 postage meters.

Meanwhile, with the cooperation of industrial and commercial sectors, China Post settled illegal operation Practiced by some courriers.
