In 2002, the nationwide EMS volume climbed up to 140.623 million pieces, up 11.1% over the last year, which was 102.9% bigger than that of the annual plan; The total revenue for EMS accumulated 4.886 billion yuan, down 2.15% against the last year, which fulfilled 97.72% of the volume set in the annual plan. The margin of the operating revenue vs. expenditure totaled 603.74 million yuan and the cost of 100 yuan income maintained in a low level of 84.39 yuan. Confronted with the rapid changes happened in the international and domestic markets and the drastic competition, China EMS has fully recognized the situation and taken an active part in the competition. Regarding the big customers, China EMS restructured the marketing modules, arranged special staff for different industries and provided total solutions for them. China EMS has attached much importance to customers in the industrial, commercial, trade enterprises and financial institutions as well as administrative institutions.
To promote the revenue, China EMS has devoted itself into restructuring services with concentration on international and parcel services, giving full play of the supplementation of EMS and common speed mail service, encouraging advantageous regions fastened together to develop international services and providing best operating channels for customers. China EMS has given prominence to the brand advantage by collecting the payments for goods so as to promote the parcel services. Meanwhile, China EMS has strived to explore new and value-added services to strengthen its comprehensive capacities. The network of EMS etiquette service has been expanded further. As many as 1,253 business offices of the service have been opened. These business offices deliver the enrollment notifications, identity cards, passports and so on. The development of scale of the service of documents, certificates and licenses has been realized. The service of the receivers' payment for the EMS from Nokia and Shell has been added. And the service of receivers' payment for UT Starcom in Hangzhou has been opened. We are sticking to raising the service quality postal EMS by honoring high quality and high efficiency. 0n October 1,2002 the new criterion of through time limit was publicized in society. Due to promotion of the building of informatization and the improvement of tracking and tracing system, the online rate of the information on the delivery of EMS mails has been resumed and reached the highest level in history. Meanwhile, China EMS has built up the cooperative relationship with 30 Posts on the international EMS tracking and tracing through the Rugby system that was developed by UPU. This changes the traditional mode of tracking and tracing among exchange offices and raises the efficiency of international EMS tracking and tracing.
