In recent years, drawing on the successful experiences of other countries and considering the reality of China, China Post has been reforming the postal network according to the centralized processing system, so as to reduce transition and speed up distribution.

With comprehensive utilization of air, rail, road and water transportation and relatively independent express postal network as a target, the postal transportation network was speeded up.

Up to the first half year of 1998, 24,608 postal routes has been established. The overall length of the first and second class trunk route reached 2.363 million kilometers. Among them, there are 2 self owned air routes. There are 30379 vehicles for express postal transportation and 593 railway carriages.

More investment has been put in service facilities. The construction of postal outlets has been accelerated. The environment of postal service has been improved.

There are 82,000 postal outlets and 12.1367 million square meters for postal production.
